The Yellow Room
The Yellow Room
A place where women writers can gather together for support, encouragement and friendship.
I founded The Yellow Room Magazine in 2008 after getting withdrawal symptoms following the sale of my first magazine for women writers, Quality Women’s Fiction, in 2006.
The Yellow Room publishes short stories of up to 5,000 words by UK women writers in a smart print magazine twice a year. The Yellow Room also gives helpful and constructive feedback on those stories the editor, Jo Derrick, considers unsuitable for the magazine.
This website not only gives you the information you need if you wish to submit your work to The Yellow Room, but also gives you invaluable information on how to write a good short story for any market.
LATEST NEWS: There are very few copies left of Issue 3, I’m afraid, so order now to avoid disappointment. I am having trouble drawing up the shortlist for the September competition, so no results yet. (December 15th 2009)
A Warm Welcome from the editor, Jo Derrick
